Carbon Handprint Policy for Waffles and Wonders at Festivals and Markets

At Waffles and Wonders, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices. We have a Carbon Handprint Policy aimed at enhancing the positive environmental impact of our operations. 

Our Carbon Handprint Commitment 

Sustainable Sourcing 

We prioritize locally sourced, organic, and sustainably grown ingredients to minimize transportation emissions 

We use packaging that is either compostable or recyclable

We adopt low carbon cooking methods

We commit to maintaining equipment that is regularly serviced to ensure optimal energy use. 

Waste Reduction and Management 

We minimise food waste by carefully managing inventory, using surplus ingredients creatively, by partnering with food waste management agency “Too Good To Go” W&W arrange, where possible, to donate surplus food to those in need and directly in the vicinity that we trade. 

We recognise that portion sizes play a role in food waste and use our surplus ingredients creatively in our menu by partnering with food surplus charities and organisations. As well as offering every food item in MINImise portions, which is 30% smaller than the standard portions and we charges 30% less. 

PACKAGING

We have a complete ban on single use packaging

We take responsibility for ensuring that all organic, recycling and trade waste is processed appropriately.

Packaging materials are minimized, and we only use compostable or recyclable options. We encourage customers to bring reusable containers by offering a 20% discount on customers who bring their own reusable containers for hot beverages, where market/festival regulations allow. We ask our customers to dispose of their packaging considerately and encourages this by offering considerate and appropriate incentives

Carbon Offsetting 

We offset our operational carbon emissions by supporting carbon offset programs, focusing on projects that promote sustainable agriculture and directly benefit the area that we trade.

Staff Training & Community Engagement 

Everyone in our team receive training in sustainability practices and actively encouraged to make environmentally conscious decisions in and out of work

We involve our team in the implementation of our Sustainability policy so we have greater adherence and commitment to it.

We comply with and/or exceed all relevant regulatory requirements for reporting. As well as monitoring and evaluating our practices so we can continually improve.

We regularly assess and improve our sustainability practices and policies to ensure that we are continuously moving towards a more sustainable and responsible business model. We’ll update this policy at least annually in consultation with staff and other stakeholders where necessary
